Welcome to the official web-center of Bobby Dean Hackney, Musician, Songwriter, and Author. The legacy of Bobby Hackney, his music and career spanning from Detroit Michigan to New England, and throughout America and the entire world, is etched in the history of Rock music starting with the legendary band “DEATH” from Detroit Michigan in 1975, where and when Bobby, along with his two brothers formed a Rock band and recorded music at Detroit’s legendary United Sound Recording Studio, which almost 40 years later gained world-wide recognition as Rock music that pre-dated the “Punk Sound” by five years. Bobby is also known as a stellar Reggae Musician and in 1986 conceived the concept for the now-legendary “Vermont Reggae Festival” which in it’s Zenith in 1990, drew an estimated 40 thousand people to Burlington Vermont’s Northbeach Park. Bobby Hackney is a songwriter of a vast variety of styles, Rock, Reggae, Blues, Children’s Songs, Gospel Songs, and instrumentals.

Rock Music from the 70s and 80s
The first song written by Bobby Hackney
and commercially recorded was a song
called “People Save The World” by
RockFire Funk Express which was
recorded at United Sound Recording
Studio in Detroit in 1971. More
compositions written by Bobby in the
early and mid seventies were to come and
be recorded including the legendary songs
featured on the Death LP “For The Whole
World To See” which has made Rock-N-
Roll history, and the historic “4Th
Movement” LP featuring the most intense
Rock songs about the “Rock” ever heard.
Reggae Music from the 80s and 90s
In 1980, through his association with being
a disc jockey at a local college radio
station, Bobby acquired a fond love for
Reggae music and composed his very first
Reggae-oriented song. This infusion of
Reggae into Bobby’s songwriting style first
appeared on record with the release of the
second 4TH Movement “Totally” LP. A
song entitled “Marching In”. In 1983
Bobby, and brother Dannis formed the
Reggae band “Lambsbread” and Bobby
became the band’s chief songwriter and
producer, writing and producing Reggae
compositions, which spanned a total of
eight albums during the twenty-six years
that Lambsbread was celebrated as one of
New England’s and America’s most
notable Reggae acts. The world of music’s
discovery of the music of the band Death
from Detroit in 2009 took Bobby back on
the journey of Rock-N-Roll with touring
and performing throughout the world. The
Lambsbread catalog of songs and
recordings continue to thrive to the
present day, with the inclusion of three
Lambsbread recordings and compositions
included in the 2019 release of the Reggae
compilation “Take Us Home”

Having spent a great deal of his musical life in
recording studios and musical laboratories, Bobby
Hackney has written and produced a wealth of
musical projects ranging from full productions to
solo acoustic songs., children’s songs, and songs
that celebrate and relate to everyday people and
